About this collection

Wheel-thrown vessels shaped through repetition and risk.

Mark’s vase practice explores how a familiar form can change through proportion, neck design, carving, stamping, layered glaze, and controlled firing. Some pieces remain quiet and earth-toned; others use blue, green, gold, Shino, or crystalline surfaces to turn the vase into a visual focal point.

Crystalline work introduces an additional collaboration with chemistry and heat. Zinc-silicate crystals form inside the glaze during a carefully managed cooling period, creating patterns that cannot be painted on or duplicated exactly. Every vessel shown here records its own combination of clay, glaze movement, time, and temperature.
